Summary:PURPOSE:To easily insert a chip into the recessed part of the work surface by forming the chip by a shape memory material. CONSTITUTION:In inserting a chip 1 of a polishing means into the recessed part of the work surface, the temperature of the chip 1 consisting of a shape memory material is made a low temperature phase and the chip 1 is made in non-developing shape. After insertion of the chip 1 into the recessed part in this state, the temperature of the chip 1 is made a high temperature phase inside the recessed part 3, the chip 1 is restored in developing shape, the chip 1 is fitted to the recess-part of the work and the internal face of the recessed part is polished by the chip 1. Then after completion of the recessed part polishing, the temperature of the chip 1 is made a low temperature phase again, the chip 1 is made in non-developing shape and this chip is removed from the recessed part of the work.
