Summary: | PURPOSE:To enable considerable increase of sensitivity in quantification in a limulus test by bringing a specimen into contact with an adsorbent prepared by combination of a heterocyclic compound containing nitrogen with a non- water-soluble element. CONSTITUTION:An adsorbent is prepared by combining a heterocyclic compound containing nitrogen with a non-water-soluble element directly or through the intermediary of a spacer. This adsorbent is brought into contact with a specimen so that pyrogen in the specimen be adsorbed by the adsorbent, and this adsorbent is washed to remove substances other than the pyrogen. Thereafter the washed adsorbent or the pyrogen eluted therefrom is subjected to a limulus test and thereby the pyrogen can be quantified. Since this adsorbent adsorbs no inhibitory substance of quantification of the limulus test, in addition, it can be applied also to a specimen containing this substance, which has been hard to quantify heretofore. |
