Summary:PURPOSE:To contrive the effective utilization of an external sample-hold function by providing a means outputting a strobe signal informing at least one of the sampling start, end or its period of an analog signal externally. CONSTITUTION:At least one of strobe signals informing the sampling start, end and its period of an analog signal is outputted externally by a means, which is provided on an analog digital converter 1 built in a semiconductor integrated circuit. The strobe signal gives a sampling timing to a holding circuit 20 with high performance provided externally to improve the A/D conversion accuracy with respect to an input analog signal with a large change and acts like answering a request controlling a sender simply from the processing side of the analog signal. Thus, the external sample-hold function is utilized effectively.
