PURPOSE:To improve the operability by providing a reference list between an individual telephone number and a subscriber number and also a reference list between an abbreviated number and an individual telephone number in a memory of an exchange. CONSTITUTION:A reference list between an individual telephone number and a telephone number and also a reference list between an abbreviated individual telephone number used for an individual for each individual belonging to an exchange network and an individual telephone number are provided in a memory 205 of an exchange 200. Then the telephone set 200 converts the abbreviated individual telephone number received from an outgoing telephone set 100 into a destination telephone number by using the two lists to connect an outgoing telephone set 100 and an incoming telephone set 100. Thus, even in the individual telephone number system in which a telephone number is provided for each individual registered to an exchange network, the abbreviated dial is usable and the operability at dialing is improved.
