PURPOSE:To assemble a decelerating or accelerating mechanism with an ultrasonic motor in one piece and facilitate size reduction of the apparatus by a method wherein a gear coupling between a rotor and an output shaft is provided by a planet gear construction and the rotation of the rotor is accelerated or decelerated and transmitted to the output shaft. CONSTITUTION:A rotor 5 is rotated by a travelling wave generated in a stator 2 and a planet gear mechanism is provided between the rotor 5 and an output shaft 16 and the rotation of the rotor 5 is decelerated or accelerated and transmitted to the output shaft 16. In order to decelerated the rotation of the rotor 5, a small diameter gear 15 is provided between the gear 5a of the rotor 5 and an internal gear 14 to transmit the rotation of the rotor 5 to the internal gear 14. On the other hand, in order to accelerate the rotation of the rotor 5, the small diameter gear 15 is provided between the gear 5a of the rotor 5 and the gear 5a of the output shaft 16 to transmit the rotation of the rotor 5 to the output shaft 16 through the small diameter gear 15. Moreover, the decelerating or accelerating mechanism is assembled with an ultrasonic motor in one piece. With this constitution, a decelerating or accelerating power source can be obtained as a small size apparatus.
