Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce product cost and improve product quality by kneading a clayey raw material with an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide at a specific weight ratio, heat-treating the resultant kneaded mixture at a prescribed temperature and then aging the heat-treated mixture with an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:A clayey raw material and an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide are kept at a weight ratio within the range of 0.01-0.2 and then kneaded in a kneader 1. The resultant kneaded mixture is subsequently heat-treated at 90-500 deg.C temperature in a heat-treating machine 2, cured, then subjected to aging treatment with a 0.1-10N aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide in a hydrothermal synthesizer 3 at 90-200 deg.C to provide powdery zeolite. Thereby, since a calcining treatment step is not required and high-quality zeolite can be formed with a small amount of the sodium hydroxide, product cost is reduced. Since cellular zeolite can be obtained with optional regulation of particle diameter and shape, product quality is improved.
