Summary:PURPOSE:To make a circular beam spot linear for its optimization as a laser beam pointer by arranging a cylindrical lens on an optical axis of outgoing light of a solid laser. CONSTITUTION:In a laser diode excitation solid laser of green color suitable for a laser beam pointer indicating a diagram on an OHP picture and a slide picture from a distant place, cylindrical lenses 10 and 11 are arranged on the optical axis of outgoing light 7 of the solid laser 1. When a laser beam, which is generally made to go out in a circular section shape of a TMEoo mode is magnified and made linear by these two cylindrical lenses, a linearly restored beam is obtained and is easy to use for indicating a diagram or a sentence as a laser beam pointer and becomes easy to be recognized with the eye. Further, when the cylindrical lenses are made transferable in the optical axis direction, the length of the linear laser beam becomes variable.
