Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent a lowering of the reliability of an apparatus due to the forgetting of the replacement of a non-volatile memory by using the non-volatile memory for storing the total number of printing sheets, a display element for displaying the stored total number of the printing sheets, a means for setting the value thereof and a switch for storing the set value in the non-volatile memory. CONSTITUTION:When a printer is set to a total number-of-printing sheet display state by a switch 1 and each figure of the total number of printing sheets is selected by a switch 2, the LED 3 showing the figure selected by a switch control circuit 7 and a display element control circuit 8 lights. When the number desired to be stored at the figure position selected by a switch 4 is set, the set number is displayed on a display element 5 and can be confirmed. The number of the selected figures are stored in the corresponding address of a non-volatile memory 10 through the control circuit 7 and a memory control circuit 9 by a switch 6. At each time when the number-of- figure selection switch 2 is pushed, a lower rank figure is changed to a higher rank figure to become the highest rank figure and subsequently returns to the lowest rank figure. The number selection switch displays 0 - 9 in order at each time when said switch 4 is pushed.
