Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a good cycle characteristic by producing a baked substance through heating of a mixture of MnO2 and Li2CO3 at a certain temp., and by using this baked substance as a positive electrode active substance. CONSTITUTION:A baked substance obtained by heating a mixture of MnO2 and Li2CO3 at 600-900 deg.C is used as the positive electrode active substance of a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery. This heating shall preferably be carried out at two stages; first at a temp. between 600-700 deg.C and then at 800-900 deg.C. When this heating is made, Li in Li2CO3 is substituted with the hydrogen contained in MnCO3 in the form of H2O or OH, and thereby dehydration of MnO will be made approx. perfectly. Therein little bireactions will take place at for ex. charge/discharge, such as water going out of pos. electrode active substance into the electrolyte so as to turn the Li inactive. This accomplishes a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery with less drop of capacity at charge/discharge cycles and with a longer cyclic lifetime.
