PURPOSE:To lock a pedal automatically at time of application by assembling a locking mechanism for locking a pedal joint shaft so as not to have the pedal folded during running, in a pedal folding joint of a crank arm. CONSTITUTION:When a folded pedal 10 is set upright into a normal service condition, a crank arm 1 is rotated so as to cause the pedal to be situated at the lower side and stopped, and in this state, when the pedal standing erect upward is tilted by one hand, an arm lock fitting 14 and a safety lock fitting 15 of a locking mechanism being an open state due to pressing action by return rotation of this pedal joint shaft 4 are rotated upward against each force of springs 22, 29. Then, when the crank arm 1, the pedal and the pedal joint shaft 4 has come to a right angle, the arm lock fitting 14 and the safety lock fitting 15 are engaged with each other, and thereby the arm lock fitting 14 firmly holds a lock receiver round shaft part 4a of the pedal joint shaft 4, so that an automatic lock for this pedal joint shaft 4 is completed.
