Summary:PURPOSE:To easily attain high speed reproduction without applying redesign of a magnetic tape drive system or the like by varying only the drive speed of a magnetic tape so as to attain the reproduction without changing the drive speed of a rotary drum. CONSTITUTION:When a reproducing signal is outputted periodically from magnetic heads 11a-11d, the reproduced signal is overlapped partly with a reproduced signal from other magnetic head timewise. The reproduced signal with overlapped partly in the time is stored respectively and separately to a reproduction signal storage means 21. Plural reproduction signals stored in the reproduction signal storage means 21 is outputted sequentially toward a reproduction signal rearrangement means 22 at a speed faster than the storage speed stored in the reproduction signal storage means 21. The reproduction signal rearrangement means 22 receives an output of the reproduction signal storage means 21 to output an output signal while rearranging the reproduced signals in the order read by plural magnetic heads 11a-11d. Thus, the output signal is compressed timewise and high speed reproduction is attained.
