Summary:PURPOSE:To stably produce a metal strip having excellent quality by inserting inorganic quality material-made cloth-like body between a pouring nozzle or a side weir and peripheral surface of a cooling roil as sealing material. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal 4 poured into casting space 3 from the pouring nozzle 2 is rapidly cooled and solidified by conducting heat through the cooling roil 1 to make solidified shell 5 at the peripheral surface of the cooling roll 1. The solidified shell 5 is carried out from the casting space 3 along rotating direction of the cooling roll 1. At tip part of the pouring nozzle 2, cushion material 6 is arranged to buffer pushing force at the time of approaching the pouring nozzle 2 to the peripheral surface of the cooling roll 1. The glass wool- made sealing material 7 at between the cushion material 6 and the peripheral surface of the cooling roll 1 is extended from a fixed part 8. By this method, while keeping the surface of the cooling roll to good condition, the metal strip having excellent quality can be produced.
