Summary:PURPOSE:To uniformly melt a nonmetal at a high melting rate without causing contamination by impurities by putting a molten metal in a melting furnace and the nonmetal to be melted and a molten nonmetal thereof on the molten metal and by applying electromagnetic stirring action to the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:A metal is melted, this molten metal 3 is put on the bottom of a melting furnace 1 and a nonmetal 4 to be melted and a molten nonmetal 4a thereof are put on the surface of the molten metal 3. The specific gravity of the nonmetal 4 is lower than that of the metal. A moving magnetic field (moving in the directions of arrows) generated by an inducer 2 set at the outside of the furnace 1 is applied to the molten metal 3 to stir the molten metal 3. By this stirring, the molten nonmetal 4a is stirred and the melting of the nonmetal 4 is accelerated.
