Summary:PURPOSE:To make a zoom lens compact and low-cost by fixing first and second lens groups but moving second and third lens groups in the same direction along the optical axis while changing the relative interval for the purpose of not only varying the power but also correction the variance of the image forming position in case of zooming. CONSTITUTION:The zoom lens consists of the first lens group having a positive refracting power, the second lens group having a negative refracting power, the third lens group having a positive refracting power, and the fourth lens group having a positive refracting power in order from the object side. When the power is varied, first and fourth lens groups are fixed but second and third lens groups are moved in the same direction along the optical axis while changing the relative interval to not only vary the power but also correct the variance of the image forming position. Thus, the compact and inexpensive zoom lens of good image forming capability is obtained.
