Summary:PURPOSE:To produce the title dispersion stabilizer which has a sharp distribution of the particle diameter and wherein each particle is porous and is excellent in uniformity, by using a dispersion stabilizer for suspension polymerization together with a specific (meth)acrylic ester polymer as auxiliary for polymerization. CONSTITUTION:The present dispersion stabilizer comprises a water-soluble polymer as a main dispersant (A) together with a (meth)acrylic ester polymer containing ionic groups in the side chains as an auxiliary (B) for polymerization. The (meth)acrylic ester polymer used as the auxiliary (B) can be produced by copolymerizing a monomer represented by formula I or a quaternized product thereof, or a monomer of formula II or a quaternized product thereof, etc., which contains an ionic group, with a (meth)acrylic ester. In the formulae, n is 0-3; R and R are each H or methyl; and R and R are each lower alkyl. It is preferred that the content of the inonic groups in the (meth)acrylic ester polymer is in the range of 0.01-10mol%. As the main dispersant (A), methylcellulose, hydroxypropylcellulose, gelatin, PVA, and the like can be mentioned.
