Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a detergent composition giving mild action to hair and skin and free from discoloration with time by compounding a polyphosphoric acid compound with a mixed phosphate-type surfactant having ammonium ion or alkanolamine as counter ion. CONSTITUTION:The objective detergent composition is produced by compounding (A) 0.01-2.0wt.% (preferably 0.1-1.0wt.%) of a compound of formula I (M1-M4 and Mn+2 are H, alkali metal, ammonium ion or alkanolamine; n is 3-32) and (B) 1-30wt.% (preferably 5-20wt.%) of a surfactant composed of a mixture of the compounds of formula II and formula III (R1-R3 are 8-18C hydrocarbon group; X is ammonium ion or alkanolamine; Y is H, ammonium ion or alkanolamine; l, m and n are 0-20). The ratio of the compound of formula II/formula III is preferably 100/0-50/50 to attain high detergent power.
