Summary:PURPOSE:To form a flash setting agent for cement having excellent setting property not only at an usual temp. but at a low temp. by compounding alkali metal aluminate, alkali metal carbonate, calcium aluminate and aluminum sulfate. CONSTITUTION:The flash setting agent for cement is formed from following components (a)-(d). 10-25wt.% alkali metal aluminate (a), 5-25wt.% alkali metal carbonate (b), 50-70wt.% calcium aluminate (c) and 5-13.8wt.% aluminum sulfate. A part of the calcium aluminate can be replaced by quicklime and(or) slaked lime in not more than about 15wt.%. Quicklime and slaked lime are somewhat inferior to calcium aluminate in respect of exhibiting strength in cement material but, since they are cheaper than calcium aluminate, and especially quicklime reacts quickly with water even at a low temp. and supplies calcium ion required at the initial stage of hydration reaction while generating heat, they are preferably used when the flash setting agent above-mentioned is used at a low temp.
