Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain current of sufficiently small waveform distortion by a structure wherein primary windings of two wound-rotor induction motors are connected to a power source so that the respective directions of the phase rotations are opposite to each other, and the secondary windings thereof are connected to each other through cycloconverters. CONSTITUTION:A primary winding 2 of a first wound-rotor induction motor 1 is connected to a power source 12 so that the phase rotation is forward, while a primary winding 10 of a second wound-rotor induction motor 9 is connected to the power source 12 so that the phase rotation is reverse. As a result, the frequency supplied to cycloconverters 6, 7 and 8 is two times as large as that of the power source 12 in a synchronous speed. Therefore, since the power- source frequency of the cycloconverters 6, 7 and 8 becomes two times as large as the frequency of the power source 12, even though 6 pulse type cycloconverters are used, fineness of ignition control of the thyristors becomes equal to that of 12 pulse type cycloconverters. Accordingly, sufficient control performance can be obtained.
