Summary:PURPOSE:To recover slag having less phosphorus concn. and to enable reutilization as refining agent by separating and removing liquid phase slag having high phosphorus concn. at the time of being under condition, which is separatable into two phases of the liquid phase and solid phase during solidification of the molten slag. CONSTITUTION:During the solidification of the molten slag discharged from a steelmaking furnace in the slag pan, the phosphorus in the slag is shifted into the liquid phase from the solid phase. Therefore, at the time of being under condition of coexisting the liquid phase and the solid phase, the liquid phase slag condensing the phosphorus is discharged, separated and removed from the slag pan, and only the solid phase slag containing low phosphorus concn. and valuable component of manganese, etc., is recovered and this is reutilized as refining agent, such as slag making agent for converter, pre-treating agent for molten iron.
