Summary:PURPOSE:To facilitate coupling of waveguides to each other or the waveguides and optical fibers by fitting connecting pins into guides and coupling connectors to each other. CONSTITUTION:Two pieces of the guides 3 are formed in parallel atop a waveguide substrate 1 and the waveguides 2 are provided between the two guides 3. The guides 3 are formed by, for example, machining. The guides 3 are formed to the waveguide connector 4 and optical connector 6 to be butted and, therefore, the waveguides 2 provided to both the connectors are coupled or the waveguide 2 and the optical fiber 5 are coupled if the two connectors are coupled by fitting the connecting pins 7 into the butted two connectors. In addition, the automatic axial alignment is executed as well. The connection of the waveguides to each other or the waveguide and the optical fiber is thereby facilitated.
