Summary:NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (at least one of R and R is 3-10C alkyl and the remaining is H, 1-10C alkyl, 2-10C alkenyl, phenylalkyl, etc.; W is CO, CS or SO2; A and B are phenyl, naphthyl, heterocyclic ring, phenylalkyl, 1-10C alkyl, 2-10C alkenyl, etc.,). EXAMPLE:N'-t-butyl-N'-(4-chlorobenzene sulfonyl)-N-benzoylhydrazine. USE:An insecticide. The compound of formula I has an excellent insecticidal activity particularly against Lepidoptera, Coleoptera and Hemiptera injurious insects. PREPARATION:A mono-substituted hydrazine of formula II is reacted with a compound of the formula Y -W-B (Y is halogen, alkoxy, etc.,) to prepare a compound of formula III, which is reacted with a sulfonyl halide of the formu la A-SO2X (X is halogen) in the presence of a base (e.g., NaOH) at a tempera ture of -5 deg.C-the boiling temperature of a solvent to provide the compound of formula I.
