Summary:PURPOSE:To perform a recording monitor and a precedent reproducing recording operation with a few number of heads at the time of a precedent reproducing recording by making precedent heads detect a tracking servo signal and also reproduce a signal and making following heads rewrite the signal. CONSTITUTION:When the precedent reproducing recording is performed to rewrite an already recorded signal written on a magnetic tape 1 by reproducing and processing the signal, the precedent heads 3 and 4 perform the detection of the tracking servo signal and also the reproducing of the signal, while the following heads 5 and 6 perform the recording operation to rewrite the signal. By this method, the recording monitor and the precedent reproducing recording operation are feasible by a few number of heads, and consequently the number of channels for a rotary transformer can also be reduced.
