Summary:PURPOSE:To form a metallic and solid-like film, by successively applying colored paint forming a film having a specific Munsell value, specific metallic paint and clear paint to a surface to be painted in a lapped state. CONSTITUTION:Colored paint capable of forming a film having a Munsell value of 0-6 is prepared. Metallic paint containing iron oxide particles, which contains an alpha-iron oxide crystal in an amount of 80wt.% or more, in a compounding amount 0.1-30 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of a vehicle component is prepared. Herein, the longitudinal dimension of about 90wt.% or more of iron oxide particles is 30mum or less and that of 40wt.% or more of said particles is 5-15mum and the thickness of said particles is 1/10-1/20 that thereof in the longitudinal direction. The aforementioned colored paint and metallic paint as well as clear paint are applied to the surface to be coated in a lapped state to perform painting finishing.
