Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a good regenerated image, by providing a frame memory for storing the image of the outside and a picture dividing circuit for dividing the image of the outside stored in said frame memory into a plurality of pictures. CONSTITUTION:Obtained image data becoming the object of binarization processing is temporarily stored in a frame memory 1 and subsequently sent to a picture dividing circuit 2. The picture dividing circuit 2 sends the data relating to the first divided picture to a brightness data calculation circuit 3 at first and a threshold value is set on the basis of the obtained brightness data by a threshold setting circuit 4 and the data of the first divided picture is binarized on the basis of said threshold value by a binarizing circuit 5. Hereinbelow, binarization processing is performed in the same way with respect to all pictures from the next divided picture to the final divided picture and the divided binarized images subjected to the dividing/binarizing processing by the binarizing circuit 5 are synthesized at last by a picture synthesizing circuit 6 to obtain one binarized image (total picture). In this case, since the optimum threshold value is set at every divided picture to perform binarization processing, a target can be certainly extracted regardless of a distance.
