PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of unequalness at the time of an under coating treatment of a photographic sensitive material by providing a nip roll to the point where a base comes into contact with an earth roll. CONSTITUTION:The base 5 which is already subjected to the under coating treatment on one face (rear face) travels in the direction of an arrow by holding the earth roll 1. The earth roll is constituted by coating an insulation coating layer 3 on a metallic roll 2. A discharge electrode 4 is installed opposite to this earth roll 1. The discharge electrode is connected to a high-frequency and high-voltage generator and discharges corona toward the surface of the base 5. The nip roll 6 is installed to the position where the base 5 comes into contact with the earth roll 1 to nip the base 5 between said roll and the earth roll 1, thereby shutting off the air going to be entrained by and included into the base. The nip roll 6 is constructed freely rotatably and is rotated in the arrow direction by friction as the base 5 travels. The generation of the unequalness by the corona discharge treatment arising at the time of the under coating of the photographic sensitive material is thereby prevented.
