Summary:PURPOSE:To secure safety when a brake system fails by connecting a hydraulic control valve at the discharge port of a tandem type master cylinder body and opening the valve body by a valve operation releasing member when the piston of a master cylinder shifts the valve body of the hydraulic control valve over a prescribed stroke. CONSTITUTION:In the body 1 of a tandem type master cylinder, a primary piston 2 and a secondary piston 3 are fitted. One edge part of a cylindrical member 6 as valve operation releasing member is pressing-held onto the edge surface of the secondary piston 3 which is opposed to the primary piston 2. A liquid pressure control valve 24 installed at a discharge port 22 formed onto the side wall of the master cylinder body 1 has a working piston 31 and a valve body 35 which can be set onto a valve seat 33 formed on the working piston 31. When the piston 3 shifts over a prescribed stroke, the flange 6c of the cylindrical member 6 is meshed with a slider 40, and the valve is opened compulsorily by the tilt of the slider 40.
