Summary:PURPOSE:To extend the roll life without generating the quality defect of a strip steel by dulling the surface roughness of a roll surface at specified value, then buffing its surface roughness at less specified value and smoothing the tip part of the surface by dulling within said range. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a bridle roll is subjected to dulling in 20-30mum surface roughness Rz and its surface is to buffing in <=10-20mum surface rough ness. The surface roughness necessary for preventing the slippage of the bridle roll and steel strip is thus given. The tip of the surface roughness is over an acute angle in dulling and the space between a tip part 23 and steel strip becomes in an extreme-pressure state to cause the quality defect of a print flaw on the steel strip. The over acute angle tip part 23 is therefore changed to a smooth part 24 by buffing it in <=10-20mum. The reason why the dulling is made in 20-30mum surface roughness is because of making it in <=10-20mum by the succeeding buffing.
