PURPOSE:To display recorded image information in a partial area of an image selectively by inserting a graphic code and an instruction code as a sub-code to record in a recording medium and mixing signals corresponding to graphic codes in the respective parts of a video format signal in accordance with instruction codes at the time of reproducing. CONSTITUTION:The mixing ratio between a video format signal outputted from an analog video conversion circuit 65 and that from a video format demodulation processing circuit 30 is controlled in the unit of pixel. For instance, the mixing ratio for the part of data corresponding to respective pixels in areas of an image A by video format signals outputted from the circuit 30 other than an area D, is set 100%, while that for those in the area D is set 0%. A mixing ratio for the part of data corresponding to respective pixels in areas of an image B by video format signals outputted from the circuit 65 other than the area D, is set 0%, while that for those in the area D is made 100%. As a result, an image C can be formed by synthesizing the parts of the image A other than the area D and the parts of the image B in the areas D together.
