Summary:PURPOSE:To always attain a stable cleaning action by sticking a powdery resin material of ball-shaped particles to the surface of an image carrier or/and in the vicinity of the abutting edge of a cleaning blade. CONSTITUTION:A cleaning device 2 is arranged in close vicinity to and in parallel with a photosensitive body 1 traveling in the direction of an arrow A, and one end of a blade 3 is pressed to the surface of the photosensitive body 1 to scrape residual toner on the photosensitive body. Toner stays in a reservoir part and is discharged by a screw 4. The surface of the photosensitive body or the cleaning blade is coated with a powdery resin material P which consists essentially of Si and has >=0.5 particle form and 1.0-10mum mean particle size. An Si powdery resin material of ball-shaped particles and a copolymer of dimethyle siloxane and styrene are used as the powdery material P. By this constitution, escape of toner or the like does not occur to obtain a stable cleaning action even in case of the use of an image carrier using an organic semiconductor.
