Summary:PURPOSE:To facilitate these mass production of a polypeptide, by clarifying amino acid sequence of cell bonding domain in fibronectin. CONSTITUTION:It is clarified that polypeptide having 11.5KD (108 amino acid residue) and known as a polypeptide cell adhesion activity in human fibronectin (hereafter referred to as FN) has no cell adhesion action, whereas a peptide (Ala -Met ) having 283 amino acid residue obtained by extending N end of the above-mentioned polypeptide has adhesion activity equal to FN. Therefore, various investigation was carried out according to an amino acid sequence having N end domain. As a result, it turned out that a polypeptide having amino acid sequence expressed by formula I (X is amino acid sequence expressed by formula II or a sequence losing amino acid or peptide from the N-end thereof; Y is sequence having Cys or losing Cys) has extremely large cell adhesion activity.
