Summary:PURPOSE:To enable supply of an ink or changeover of ink color to be quickly performed, by providing a fluid ink which is contained in a container and the transfer characteristics of which varies according to selective application of energy, and an ink transporting means provided in the container so as to trans port the fluid ink. CONSTITUTION:An ink transporting roller 1 and a coating roller 4 are disposed in the interior of the container 5a of an ink cassette 5, and a fluid ink 2 is contained in an ink reservoir 3 in the container 5a. The ink 2 has fluidity and film-forming property, is normally not tacky, but becomes tacky when predeter mined energy is applied thereto. The ink 2 provided in a predetermined layer form on the surface of the roller 1 is supplied with electric energy or the like in an image pattern by an energy applying means 6, whereby an ink image 2a rendered tacky by the application of the energy is formed. The ink image 2a is transferred onto a recording medium 8 fed between a transfer roller 7 and the ink layer. Replacement of the ink and color changeover can be easily performed by replacement of the ink cassette 5.
