Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetoresistive device system containing a superconducting material, which exhibits a resistance change with good sensitivity in response to even a weak magnetic field and in which no cooling medium is necessary, by a structure wherein an element of a ceramic which contains partially a superconducting material in a normal conductor, a means for applying a magnetic field to the element, and a means for detecting an electrical resistance change in the element are provided. CONSTITUTION:An element 1 of a ceramics which contains partially a superconducting material in a normal conductor, a means for applying a magnetic field to the element, and a means for detecting an electrical resistance change in the element are provided. For example, after BaCO3, Y2O3 and CuO are so weighed as to be Ba:Y:Cu=9:4:7, by ratio of the number of atoms, dispersed and mixed, a temporary calcination is performed in the air for 5 hours at 900 deg.C. Next, the calcined body is again ground and dispersed to form fine particles, and the fine particles are then pressed under the pressure of 1ton/cm to produce a pellet. Subsequently, a regular firing is performed in the air for 15 hours at 950 deg.C. Next, Ti electrodes are formed as a pair of current electrodes 2 and a pair of voltage electrodes 3 on the surface of a sample element 1 by means of a vacuum evaporation, and further leads are attached to these electrodes with silver paste to produce a magnetoresistive device.
