Summary:PURPOSE:To improve impact resistance at room temp. or below by blending a polyether-imide with an ethylene-alpha-olefin copolymer having grafted alpha,beta-unsatd. carboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:50-1wt.% modified ethylene-alpha-olefin copolymer obtd. by grafting an alpha,beta-unsatd. carboxylic acid (esp. pref. maleic anhydride and maleimide) onto an ethylene-alpha-olefin copolymer, such as an ethylene-propylene copolymer, is blended with 50-99wt.% polyether-imide (representative example being ULTEM of the formula produced by General Electric), thereby obtaining the title compsn. This compsn. exhibits markedly improved impact resistance while maintaining the properties, such as heat resistance, flame resistance and rigidity, inherent in the polyether-imide resin. Accordingly, the compsn. is used in various fields, e.g., in the manufacturing of electronic components and automobile parts.
