Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent the overheat of a contact glass and to prevent operating efficiency from lowering even in case of continuous copying by providing a detecting member for detecting the temperature of the contact glass near a lighting member and lowering a copying speed when the detected temperature exceeds a set upper limited temperature. CONSTITUTION:The temperature detecting sensor 25 for detecting the temperature of the contact glass 4 is provided near the lighting lamp 5 of a 1st scanner 7 arranged in a specified position. The temperature detecting sensor 25 abuts on the contact glass 4 heated by the lighting lamp 5 and detects the temperature of the contact glass 4. And a control means is provided, which lowers the copying speed from a usual speed to a low specified speed when the temperature of the contact glass 4 attains the dangerous temperature t1. If the detected temperature is the dangerous temperature t1 or below in the case where continuous copying is completed and the temperature of the contact glass 4 lowers during a holding time, the copying speed is restored to the usual speed. Thus, the temperature of the contact glass can be prevented from abnormally rising and the copying operation can be effectively performed.
