Summary:PURPOSE:To miniaturize the size of heat exchanger, by laying out tubes in a staggering manner, and establishing the intervals of tube rows forming a right angle to the direction of gas flow, the intervals between tubes neighboring slantingly, and the ratio between the diameter of tube and the diameter of fin, within a specific range respectively. CONSTITUTION:Tubes 1 are laid out in a staggering manner. The center interval between a row of tubes 1 forming a right angle to the direction of gas flow F and tubes 1 neighboring to each other is defined as SL, the center interval between the tubes 1 slantingly neighboring to the direction of gas flow F is defined as SD. The diameter of tubes 1 is set as D while the diameter of fins 2 is set as Df. The tube layout condition is represented by formula I. When the draft loss and the quantity of heat absorption are assumed to be fixed, the space between the tubes 1 can be reduced, which reduces the flow rate of gas, extend the time in which gas remains between the tubes 1, and hence improves the rate of heat exchange per area. It is, therefore, possible to reduce the number of tubes 1, the height of fins and remarkably reduce the capacity of heat exchanger.
