Summary:PURPOSE:To freely measure the driving torque of a deck regardless of the form of the deck by installing strain gauges which output electric signals proportional to bending moments produced in ribs of an inner ring to the ribs. CONSTITUTION:A reel 2 is constituted of an outer ring 7 which fixes one end of a tape to be wound around the outer peripheral surface of the reel 2 and an inner ring 9 provided with shaft holes 8, with the rings 7 and 9 being assembled in one body. The inner ring 9 is provided with radially protruding ribs 14 and 14 and 15 and 15 on the outer peripheral surface of a boss 13 provided with the shaft holes 8. Of the ribs 14 and 14 and 15 and 15, the pair of the ribs 14 and 14 on the same axis is respectively fitted with strain gauges 18a and 18b and 18c and 18d on both side, with the strain gauges being firmly fixed to the ribs. When wire strain gauges are used as the strain gauges 18a-18d fitted to the ribs 14 and 14, distortion is produced in the gauges due to the bending deformation of the ribs and the electric resistances of the gauges change. Therefore, the driving torque of a deck can be measured freely regardless of the form of the tape deck and the cassette mounting system and, moreover, regardless of the state of the tape deck whether it is finished goods or semimanufactured goods.
