Summary:PURPOSE:To automate a winding operation of a stepped electronic component by a method wherein a rotary chuck means is turned appropriately in a forward direction or in a reverse direction and a feed direction of a wire supply part is controlled so that a wire can be surely loaded and unloaded on a stepped part. CONSTITUTION:A workpiece 1 is held by one pair of facing chuck materials 12. A tip part of a wire 4 is brought into contact with a lead part 3 of the workpiece 1 by means of a chuck claw 31 of a wire guide material 30; a welding rod 40 is shifted to a winding start end; a contact part is welded. Then, an end part of the wire 4 is chucked; a slide block 21 is shifted in an A direction; the chuck materials 12 are turned; the wire 4 is wound on the lead part 3. When the wire 4 reaches a stepped part, the preceding slide block 21 is returned in a B direction, the wire 4 is in a state perpendicular to an axial line of the workpiece 1. A turning operation of the workpiece 1 is stopped; the slide block 21 is shifted in the A direction and is stopped. A motor 17 is turned by a prescribed amount; the wire 4 is loaded on a resistor part 2. While the slide block 21 is being fed in the A direction and the motor 17 is being turned, the wire 4 is wound on the resistor part 2.
