Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst having high thermal resistance, usable for a long time by covering the surface of a refractory inorg. carrier with priory prepared lanthanum aluminate and then depositing noble metal components thereon. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a refractory inorg. carrier such as alumina, cordierite, etc., is covered with priorly prepared lanthanum aluminate. Then this body is made to carry noble metal components such as platinum and paradium. By this method, the effect of addition of lanthanum compd. on improvement of thermal resistance of the noble metal catalyst can be effectively realized. Thus, the obtd. catalyst is highly heat resistant and usable for a long time under temp. condition about <1000 deg.C, which is suitable for exhaust gas of automobile and combwstion of hardly combustible fuel.
