Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a grating excellent in corrosion resistance and provide a battery having excellent durability to deep discharge and high temperature use. CONSTITUTION:A grating solidified in a mold and consisting of an non-antimony lead alloy having a clearance between crystal particles is pressed in the thickness direction of the grating by a pair of molds. Thus, the frame or bar of the grating is pressed from four sides in a recessed part space engraved in the mold, and the clearance between the particles is eliminated while the crystal particles nearly keep their forms. Since the casted grating 10 which the crystal particles are closely adhered to each other has a low corrosion speed and no corrosion between particles, it can be used for a battery for deep discharge or high temperature use, and has excellent durability to allow the extension in life of a battery.
