Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a simplified high definition television receiver with small in circuit scale by reproducing a wide aspect image with in-field signal processing whichever a transmitted video signal is a still picture or a moving image. CONSTITUTION:An in-field signal processing circuit 120 performs the moving image processing of both a still picture image part and a moving image part with an interpolation filter 104 in a field. When the still picture transmitted in multiple samples is reproduced with the moving image processing, some folded disturbance occurs at parts with components of high horizontal and vertical frequencies, however, the deterioration of picture quality of a picture can be suppressed to disturbance of allowable range by observing the image at an observation distance with the same degree as that of a television receiver which performs reception with an ordinary standard television system. Thereby, it is possible to dispense with complicated signal circuits consisting of a frame memory, an interpolation filter between frames, a motion detection circuit, a frequency conversion circuit, a MIX circuit, etc., required in a conventional MUSE decoder, and to manage processing with simple signal processing.
