Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent a character which is half deleted from coming out by providing a means replacing a character whose part or whole belongs to a set area with the number of the half-size spaces, which corresponds to the size of the character. CONSTITUTION:A sentence display part 10, a control part 11, a sentence storage part 12 and an input part 13 are provided. The control part 11 checks whether the characters on a left end or a right end in the area are projected from the area or not as to respective lines in the rectangular area which is set. When there is the character projected from the area, a projecting part is replaced by the space of a half-size in addition to the part in the area of the line. Since a character string to be deleted is replaced by the space, the layout of the sentence does not collapse. Thus, the character whose half is to be deleted owing to the projection of the character on the left end and the right end in the erased area from the area is replaced by the half-size space. Consequently, it can be prevented that a part of the character remains without being erased.
