Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polyester having a number-average mol.wt. in a relatively low level and simultaneously having an extremely high weight- average mol.wt., and capable of inhibiting the generation of microgels by reacting a specific glycol component with an acid component and furthermore reacting the reactional product. CONSTITUTION:This method for producing a biodegradable high mol.wt. polyester having a weight-average mol.wt. of >=50000 comprises reacting (i) a glycol component selected from glycols of the formula: HO-(CH2)n-OH (n) is an even number of 2-12) and 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol with (ii) an acid component of at least one of dicarboxylic acids of the formula: HOOC-(CH2)n-COOH or their anhydrides, reacting 1 equivalent of the hydroxyl group of (A) the aliphatic polyester thus produced having a weight-average mol.wt. of >=30000 with 0.1-1 equivalent of the isocyanate of (B) an unsaturated isocylanate having an unsaturated group and the isocyanate group in the same molecule and with 0.1-0.9 equivalent of the isocyanate group of (C) a saturated isocyanate, and furthermore reacting 100 pts.wt. of this reactional product with (D) 0.1-5 pts.wt. of an organic perioxide.
