Summary:PURPOSE:To control the amount of frosting to the minimum so as to reduce the drop in the room temperature during the space heating operation by performing a defrosting operation for the outdoor heat exchanger as the indoor fan is being operated at a very slow speed when the outdoor heat exchanger is frosted and the room temperature reaches the set temperature. CONSTITUTION:When a heating operation is performed under a low outside temperature condition and an outdoor heat exchanger thermistor 13 detects that the outdoor heat exchanger 5 is frosted, i.e. the heat exchanger temperature became lower than the set temperature and a room temperature thermistor 12 sends out a signal that the room temperature reached the set room temperature, the indoor fan 3 shifts to a very slow speed operation by the action of the indoor control section 10, and the outdoor control section 10 which receives signals from the indoor side and the frosting signal causes the outdoor fan 8 to be stopped and closes a two-way valve 4. As a result, gas delivered by the compressor flows directly to the outdoor heat exchanger 5 to perform defrosting. The heat exchanger thermistor 13 sends out a signal that the defrosting is completed. The defrosting operation, however, is continued until the room temperature thermistor 12 sends out a signal to resume the heating operation, and thereafter, a normal heating operation is resumed.
