PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a clearance between adjacent converting fine rectangular areas and to easily execute the inserting processing by dividing an arbitrary rectangular converting fine area into two and making it into a triangular area. CONSTITUTION:A converting processing part 2 divides the input image corresponding to an input image memory 1 into plural fine rectangular areas, calculates the converting destination coordinates of four peak points of the fine rectangular area and obtains the converting fine rectangular area. Further, the converting fine rectangular area is divided into two triangular areas. When the converting fine rectangular area is arranged at the outline part of a three- dimensional curved surface, it is divided by the diagonal longer out of two diagonals of the converting fine rectangular area and two triangular areas are obtained. Next, an inserting arithmetic circuit 4 inserts, calculates and obtains the coordinates on the input image corresponding to respective picture elements in the triangular area. Based on the image information of the image memory 1 for the input of the inserted calculated address, the converting processing part 2 maps the input image information onto the corresponding output image.
