Summary:PURPOSE:To decrease the troubles and defects of equipments and to automatically produce a rational periodical check plan by performing automatically the evaluation for propriety of the maintenance check and the estimation of remaining lifetimes of the equipment and then proposing the items, the contents, etc., of the next periodical check. CONSTITUTION:The input information 1 including the plant date, the accident information, etc., is transferred to a host system 2 containing a man-machine interface, an inference arithmetic part, and a data base control part 3 and stored temporarily in the part 3. Then the information 1 is used as necessary for programming of a periodical check plan via the inference arithmetic part. While the accident information stored in the system in the form of a data base is inputted to the inference arithmetic part via the part 3 to check whether a work improvement item is included in the program or not. If so, a proposal of improvement suited to the corresponding plant is produced. For execution of these processes, an equipment-based subsystems (4-1) - (4-i) including a data base control part 5, a knowledge base formation back-up tool 8, etc., are connected to the system 2.
