Summary:PURPOSE:To speedily obtain information regarding items, which are generated one after another in relation with one word in document preparation using a word processor, from dictionaries of various media through easy operation as to the information processor such as the word processor. CONSTITUTION:The information processor is equipped with an input part 5, a processing part 1 which processes an instruction and character information from the input part 5, a multimedia dictionary 2 consisting of information of dictionaries, etc., corresponding to respective media such as text data, image data, and speech data, and output parts 3 and 4 which output the information of the respective media. The input part 5 is equipped with a mode changeover key 5a and the mode switching part 10 of the processing part 1 is driven at a request made with the mode changeover key 5a to switch a retrieval mode, and a key word retrieval part 12 retrieves the dictionary of the medium corresponding to the current retrieval mode in the multimedia dictionary 2 by using the character information inputted from the input part 5 as a key word and outputs the retrieved information by an information output part in the format corresponding to the medium.
