To provide a manufacturing method for compost that allows for labor saving and automation.SOLUTION: A manufacturing method for compost comprises the steps of: storing an organic material in a container 10; producing a mixed component 11 by mixing, in the container 10, specified microorganisms having the capability to ferment the organic material with the organic material or causing natural fermentation in the organic material; promoting the fermentation by the specified microorganisms by applying red light to the mixed component 11; and inhibiting the fermentation by the specified microorganisms by applying blue light to the mixed component 11 when the temperature inside the container 10 has reached a predetermined threshold temperature.
