Summary: | To provide an aromatic sulfide compound purification method and production method; a derivative production method using the compound obtained by the purification method; and the derivative or the like.SOLUTION: An aromatic sulfide compound purification method includes (a) a step in which a mixture containing an aromatic sulfide compound represented by the formula (1) and impurities is added to a good solvent of the aromatic sulfide compound to precipitate the insoluble components, creating a treatment solution; (b) (b-1) a step for using a filter material that includes a layer containing a filtration aid to filter the treatment liquid, producing a filtrate, (b-2) a step for adding the filtration aid to the treatment liquid and then filtering it, thus forming the filtrate, or (b-3) a step for performing both (b-1) and (b-2), thus yielding the filtrate; and (c) a step for adding the filtrate to a poor solvent of the aromatic sulfide compound to crystallize it, thus creating the aromatic sulfide compound.SELECTED DRAWING: None
