To provide a conveying unit capable of suppressing the occurrence of conveyance failure in comparison with a state where a suction force for attracting a recording medium to an endless member by a conveying device is always constant, in a configuration in which the recording medium fed from the conveying device is distributed in any of a plurality of conveyance directions.SOLUTION: A conveying unit comprises: a conveying device which has a circulating endless member, and conveys a recording medium while attracting the recording medium to the surface of the endless member; distribution means which changes the conveyance direction of the recording medium sent out from the conveying device, and distributes the recording medium in any of a plurality of conveyance directions; and a control part which controls the conveying device so as to vary the suction force of the conveying device based on the conveyance direction distributed by the distribution means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10 【課題】搬送装置から送り出されている記録媒体が複数の搬送方向に振り分けられる構成において、搬送装置による記録媒体を無端部材に吸い付ける力が常に一定の場合と比して、搬送不良が生じるのを抑制することである。【解決手段】搬送ユニットは、周回する無端状の無端部材を有し、無端部材の表面に記録媒体を吸い付けながら搬送する搬送装置と、搬送装置から送り出されている記録媒体の搬送方向を変更して複数の搬送方向へ記録媒体を振り分ける振分手段と、振分手段による搬送方向に基づいて、搬送装置を制御して搬送装置による吸い付け力を変更するように制御する制御部とを備える。【選択図】図１０
