Summary:To bring a recording head into a liquid ejectable state by reducing waste ink.SOLUTION: A recording device according to the present invention has a recording head which has: an ejection port surface provided with an ejection port; a recording element which generates energy for ejecting liquid from the ejection port; a pressure chamber provided at a position facing the recording element; a first flow channel communicating with the pressure chamber via a first port different from the ejection port and a second flow channel communicating with the pressure chamber via a second port different from the ejection port, wherein the liquid is ejected from the ejection port through the pressure chamber. The recording device further has; acquisition means which acquires information concerning a time during which the liquid is not ejected from the ejection port; and circulation means which circulates the liquid so that the liquid flows from the first flow channel to the second flow channel through the pressure chamber.
